Coating of Wires and Cables The process of manufacture of cables is made by means of coating through extrusion. In this process, the melt material coming from the extruder passes to a crossed flow header which flows around the wire that passes through the header in an angle, generally 90 degrees from the extruder. The wire is preheated in order to improve the plastic-metal adherence. Once coated, the wire is cooled and is stretched in order to keep its tension and thereafter is recollected.
